The Connemara Rough Diamond Adventure Race is a mix of biking, trail & mountain running with a challenging assault course & human steeplechase right on the beach.
The 2011 race starts on Lettergesh Beach in Renvyle, Co. Galway and finishes in Clifden, the capital of Connemara. This is the race from the Coast to the Capital!
There are two categories for 2011:
Connemara Rough Diamond - Sport (similar to 2010, designed by Patrick Bracken & Andy Carroll)
- John Wayne Steeplechase 1 km
- Cycle to Kylemore Woods (Road Bike) 12 km
- Fear Gorta Assault Course 1 km
- Cycle to Letterfrack (Road Bike) 8 km
- Diamond Trail Run / Hike 4 km
- Cycle to Clifden (Road Bike) 13 km
- Total Distance: 39 km / Time: 2 - 4.5 hours
Connemara Rough Diamond - Expert (new for 2011, designed by Padraig Marrey)
- John Wayne Steeplechase 3 km
- Garraun Mountain Run 8 km
- Fear Gorta Assault Course 1 km
- Cycle to Letterfrack (Road Bike) 8 km
- Diamond Summit + Ellis Wood Trail Run 9 km
- Cycle to Clifen via Sky Road (Road Bike) 27 km
- Total Distance: 56 km / Time 3 -6 hours
If you don't have a bike, no problem bike rental is available on the day - check the news section.
When you’re done, you can chill-out with your fellow competitors in the relaxed atmosphere of the Rough Diamond after-party.
The West Coast of Ireland is the perfect outdoor playground and you’ll find everything that makes the outdoors an enjoyable experience. Prepare for an adventure through an ever changing landscape of majestic mountains, spectacular beaches, the wild Atlantic, mist covered lakes, pre-historic bogs, and shady glens.
The 1st night's camping is free and parking is free and this event is open to everyone, anyone can take part and no experience of adventure events is required. You can enter on a solo mission or challenge your friends and make it a team event.
